Graslei and Korenlei are the two quays of the river, on which ships docked. Today they represent the relaxation area for the inhabitants of Bruges and the many tourists, being full of places with outdoor seating.. Ships have been docking here since the 11th century and Ghent wouldn’t have it any other way. It is like the song of the Lorelei. The beauty of the Graslei in Ghent brings everyone and everything to a standstill. This is the place where beautiful façades are reflected in the River Lys. Tourists and residents alike relax on either side of the water, whether dangling their legs over the quay.

History on the Graslei and Korenlei Visit Gent
The Graslei and Korenlei, flanked by an array of stunning guildhalls, showcase Ghent’s historical significance as a flourishing medieval trading hub. The buildings, with their ornate facades and stepped gables, echo the prosperity of a bygone era when merchants, traders, and craftsmen converged along these bustling waterways.. Graslei and Korenlei are two pedestrian streets which lie along the banks of the old harbour of Ghent, right in the middle of the city. Combining its medieval port with its unique historical buildings along the river, Graslei has managed to become a meeting point for lunch, coffee or simply a walk by the water.
